12, 13 & 14 July: Yorkshire Churches on Show
In the Church Pavilion at the Great Yorkshire Showground. The theme "Living Stones" explored the building blocks of communities, illustrated by pictures of Muker village, Fountains Abbey and others, highlighting places where old stone buildings were given a new lease of life.  Hands on exhibits included the creation of a pebbled fish and stone painting for younger generations. Displays included:

St Gregory, Bedale: complete with examples of fine foods for sampling, including Ewe's milk Wensleydale cheese.

SPCK: Rachel Franklin, manager, presented a selection of books, cards and fine gifts.

In the Church Pavilion, the large display pictures were courtesy Yorkshire Tourist Board and Myriad Books.

l-r Rachel Franklin and Leslie MorleyThe Rural Church Support Network was launched in 2001 to support rural churches and those engaged in rural ministry and mission who deal with crisis in the countryside.

Students from Rossett, St John Fisher and St Aidan's high schools swelled the welcoming team, handing out post cards with details of the event, watching over crowds of youngsters queueing to paint small stones, welcoming and counting folk in and out and helping out wherever asked - well done to all..

Yorkshire Church on Show is supported by the Anglican Dioceses of Bradford, Ripon and Leeds, Sheffield, Wakefield and York, along with the Baptist Union, Quaker Outreach in Yorkshire, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Leeds, the Salvation Army and the Methodist Districts of Darlington, Leeds, West Yorkshire and York and Hull.
